Bhopal: While the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) seems to have failed to initiate any measure to quench the commuters' thirst, some good Samaritans have come to their rescue in this scorching heat.
Locals have put up water kiosks in front of their houses in almost every colony and are even taking pains in this hot weather to refill these kiosks.
1x1 polls
At most of the places like E7, 10 number market , E4, E5, E8 extension Gulmohar , Trilanga, and Jatt Khedi, people have put up earthen pots fitted with taps to ensure drinking water for the passers-by and have also kept the requisite utensils needed to drink water. The humane gesture comes at no financial or other benefits for the people who have installed them.
Most of them have done it on humanitarian grounds. On the other hand, the authorities have failed to make proper arrangements for drinking water for commuters despite the fact that there is no let-up in the heat wave. Drinking water kiosks are missing from most parts of the city, thanks to the indifferent approach of the civic body.
BMC, which is responsible for setting up the kiosks to provide clean and safe drinking water to the locals, has failed on this front, though the day temperature is hovering between 42 and 47 degrees Celsius for the last few days.
